  2. ^ The 1994 Population and Housing Census of Ethiopia: Results for Affar Region, vol. 2, Tables 2.1, 2.7, 2.13, 3.1, 3.6. Although the Afar Region was surveyed in 1994 at the same time as the other Regions of Ethiopia, the results were found to be unsatisfactory and a second census of this region was performed 22 July 1996 and its results replaced the earlier work.
